RE: Roll back FCC ruling--Support S.1046

Dear Senator ,

I strongly urge you to support S.1046 to roll back part of the recent FCC ruling that would relax media ownership rules. This bi-partisan bill takes an important step toward preserving a remnant of media diversity, so essential to the health and survival of our democracy.

S.1046 would return the TV ownership cap to 35 percent of the national market. The FCC ruling relaxed that cap to 45 percent, which will allow further media consolidation and further reduce competition and diversity.

The ability to carry on informed debate and discussion of current events is part of the founding philosophy of our nation. Our forefathers believed that democracy was best served by a diverse marketplace of ideas. When the FCC allows our media outlets to continue rapidly merging, it flouts the guidance of our founding fathers.

Please do everything you can to ensure the passage of S.1046. And please work through other avenues and legislation to roll back all of the other media ownership rule changes passed by the FCC in June.
