William H. Banzhaf, President RE: Stop certifying destructive logging practices! Dear President Banzhaf and SFI Board members, As a consumer of forest products, I am extremely concerned about weak and misleading sustainable forestry certification. I strongly urge the SFI to do more to reform its standards and timber industry practices. Specifically, I urge your organization to reform and improve your policies so that products that you certify as “sustainable” do NOT involve the following:
I also urge you to protect wildlife and stop using false and misleading environmental marketing and advertising claims and "certification" labels. If the Sustainable Forestry Board truly wants to earn consumers' trust, you must fix these and other problems and establish an environmentally credible certification program.
