RE: Oppose the "527 Reform Act"

Dear Senator ,

I very strongly urge you to oppose S. 271, the 527 Reform Act. This anti-democratic legislation would severely curtail individual rights and would stop Americans from making contributions in support of political activities of many grassroots organizations representing American citizens and consumers.

Even more disturbing is the fact that this law would be applied extremely haphazardly. In fact, while it tries to shut out truly independent voices, freelance billionaires could still fund slanderous attack ads like we saw in 2004.

This bill would severely restrict my ability to stand up for my values and express them to lawmakers and hold legislators accountable. It would greatly undermine my right to express my views on the issues that so significantly impact our environment and our vital social and political structures.

This law would severely impact environmental and social policy in our nation. Please protect the ability of American citizens to actively participate in the political process that shapes our lives and our future by opposing S. 271 and by actively working to ensure its defeat.
