Representative RE: Support H. Con. Res. 35 to plan withdrawal of U.S. troops from IraqDear Representative , I very strongly urge you to support Lynn Woolsey’s (D CA) resolution (H. Con. Res. 35) calling on the President to begin the immediate withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq. The bill also stipulates that the President, in addition to developing and implementing a plan to begin the immediate withdrawal of U.S. Armed Forces from Iraq, should: (1) develop and implement a plan for reconstructing Iraq's civil and economic infrastructure; (2) convene an emergency meeting of Iraq's leadership, Iraq's neighbors, the United Nations, and the Arab League to create an international peacekeeping force in Iraq and to replace U.S. Armed Forces in Iraq with Iraqi police and Iraqi National Guard forces; and (3) provide the Iraqi people the opportunity to completely control their internal affairs. I believe that the Bush Administration's war and occupation have become the chief cause of the deepening violence in Iraq. At this point in the Iraqi situation, it is time to give Iraqis sovereignty by handing over full control of reconstruction funds, Iraqi ministries and government, and new police and security forces. Sovereignty, after all, is an essential aspect of democracy. The first step towards achieving stability in Iraq is the withdrawal of US troops. We must act swiftly to end the occupation and allow Iraqis to stabilize their own country. To that end, I urge you to support H.Con.Res.35. Most Sincerely,
