RE: Illegal and destructive logging in Saskatchewan

Dear Mr. Rogel and Ms. Mulcahy,

I was very disturbed to learn that Weyerhaeuser has grossly violated the legal, social and ecological commitments that allow them to log on public lands in the boreal forests of Saskatchewan, Canada.

I have also learned that Xerox sells paper made by Weyerhaeuser's mill in Prince Albert Saskatchewan.

Since I value strong local communities, sustainable economies, and healthy ecosystems, I want to be certain that the products I buy come from socially and ecologically responsible operations. For that reason, I will stop buying Weyerhaeuser and Xerox products until meaningful action is taken to rectify this situation, and I will encourage my family, friends and associates to do likewise.

I urge Weyerhaeuser to adopt a strong global policy that protects endangered forests and human rights. Such a policy must include Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification for all operations, and a commitment to respect Indigenous rights and community interests.

I urge Xerox to either require FSC certification of its Canadian Boreal suppliers and satisfy local community concerns or immediately set a schedule to phase out purchasing products sourced from areas of concern.

Unless these steps are taken I will not purchase Weyerhaeuser and Xerox products from Saskatchewan.

Most Sincerely,
