RE: Protect the Internet from corporate greed!

Dear Senator ,

For the sake of the vitality of both our economy and our democracy, I very strongly urge you to support legislation that would provide zero-tolerance for any network discrimination and prohibit the telephone and cable companies from charging fees to Internet companies. Legislation should not include loopholes that allow companies to block or impair the flow of information over the Internet under the guise of "network management."

The Internet is a critical communications tool for me and for millions of other consumers. Don’t let corporate telecommunications giants block, slow or otherwise discriminate against information, services, or applications offered on the Internet or charge new access fees to Internet-based companies that offer services that I want over the Internet.

Network neutrality is critically important to the future of freedom and innovation on the Internet. Unfortunately, the Communications Opportunity, Promotion, and Enhancement Act of 2006 (COPE Act) effectively binds the hands of the Federal Communications Commission, leaving Internet providers free to violate network neutrality principles in pursuit of greater profits. Please oppose this legislation if it is introduced in the Senate and support legislation that guarantees network neutrality.

From its beginnings, the Internet was built on a cooperative, democratic ideal. The only job of network providers is to move data between users. They must not be allowed to block or discriminate against any of the legal content and services available online.

I will join many millions of concerned American citizens and consumers in continuing to closely monitor this vital issue.

Most Sincerely,
