Senator RE: Stop Complex 2030Dear Representative , I am deeply disturbed that the administration has proposed spending an estimated $5 to $10 billion on a facility to build the next generation of nuclear weapons. The Government Accounting Office, which provides official oversight to Congress, quotes the National Nuclear Security Administration estimate of the total cost of Complex 2030 at over $150 billion. American taxpayer dollars should not be spent creating the most terrible weapons of mass destruction known to humanity. I strongly oppose this new nuclear weapons facility, and I urge you to do whatever it takes block the administration's proposals for Complex 2030. The proposed facility would have the capacity to build 125 to 200 plutonium “triggers” or pits for nuclear weapons annually. Plutonium pits are an essential component of modern nuclear warheads. The new plutonium pit production facility is a key element of what the administration is calling Complex 2030, a comprehensive plan to update, reorganize, and rebuild the nuclear weapons complex. Sincerely,
